چکیده

In this paper, the effects of temperature on the spectral profiles of long period grating (LPG) fabricated in BGe co doped photosensitive fiber is investigated. The results obtained show that LPG in a B–Ge co doped fiber has negative temperature response or opposite sign of the temperature dependence compared with LPG written in standard telecommunication fiber . Keywords— Fiber grating, Long Period Grating, photo sensitive fiber, temperature sensor, thermal expansion.

An Improved Metal-Packaged Strain Sensor Based on A Regenerated Fiber Bragg Grating in Hydrogen-Loaded Boron–Germanium Co-Doped Photosensitive Fiber for High-Temperature Applications

Local strain measurements are considered as an effective method for structural health monitoring of high-temperature components, which require accurate, reliable and durable sensors. To develop strain sensors that can be used in higher temperature environments, an improved metal-packaged strain sensor based on a regenerated fiber Bragg grating (RFBG) fabricated in hydrogen (H₂)-loaded boron-ger...

Arc-Induced Long Period Gratings from Standard to Polarization-Maintaining and Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this work, we report about our recent results concerning the fabrication of Long Period Grating (LPG) sensors in several optical fibers, through the Electric Arc Discharge (EAD) technique. In particular, the following silica fibers with both different dopants and geometrical structures are considered: standard Ge-doped, photosensitive B/Ge codoped, P-doped, pure-silica core with F-doped clad...

Dual temperature and strain measurement with the combined fluorescence lifetime and Bragg wavelength shift approach in doped optical fiber.

We have constructed fiber-optic sensors to measure temperature and strain by combining the properties of fiber Bragg gratings with the fluorescent lifetimes of various doped fibers. Sensors have been made with the fiber Bragg grating written directly into the doped fiber to ensure the collocation of the strain and temperature measurement points. Results are compared with those obtained previous...

Ultrahigh-Temperature Regeneration of Long Period Gratings (LPGs) in Boron-Codoped Germanosilicate Optical Fibre

The regeneration of UV-written long period gratings (LPG) in boron-codoped germanosilicate "W" fibre is demonstrated and studied. They survive temperatures over 1000 °C. Compared with regenerated FBGs fabricated in the same type of fibre, the evolution curves of LPGs during regeneration and post-annealing reveal even more detail of glass relaxation. Piece-wise temperature dependence is observed...

Contribution of photoinduced densification to refractive-index modulation in Bragg gratings written in Ge-doped silica fibers.

We have computed the contribution of UV-light-induced densification to the refractive-index modulation of fiber Bragg gratings. Our results confirm that, for strong gratings written in Ge-doped silica fibers with 248-nm UV light, density changes account for a major part of the photosensitivity effect.
